Frequently asked questions
How do I start creating my custom clothing?
We offer five different measuring processes that translate easily into your personal profile and begin the process of that perfect fitting dress shirt, suit, or trousers.  Our most popular online method is the Intelligence Size Profiler.

Intelligence Size Profiler:
This ISP is a sophisticated system developed by using algorithmic data from thousands of in-person customer fittings by our Master Tailors and works extremely well to determine your size. Simply fill out the questionnaire and your size measurements will be generated.
This is the quickest way to ordering your first custom piece. Try it yourself!
In-Person Appointment:
We have traveling tailors that visit several major cities across the nation on a quarterly basis.  These gentlemen are experts at measuring and
consulting regarding styles and fabric choices. Click to Schedule a Tailor.

You have an existing favorite fitting shirt, suit, trousers, or sport coat you’d like us to duplicate: There are two options in this case.

Measure Your Garment:
You can watch our brief instructional video on how to lay the item flat and measure the garment yourself.

Mail-In Garment:
Or, mail the item(s) to our Orange County office for customers located in the U.S. or our Hong Kong office for those customers located outside the U.S., and we’ll take care of the measuring for you.
At Home Measuring:
We’ve created helpful instructional videos on this process. This measuring is a great option, especially if you have any concerns about irregularities in your body proportion.  Simply ask a close friend for help to get started building your custom wardrobe. They

I’m a new customer. How long until I receive my first shirt order?
To ensure an accurate fit, your measurements are validated by a master tailor, and then production will begin. A necessity for first time orders, this can take up to 1-week. Normal orders are approximately 2-3 weeks to complete, plus shipping time (see below). To keep you in the loop, you will receive periodic brief e-mails updating you on production and your order’s progress.
I’ve ordered my first suit through one of your retail locations/traveling master tailors, how long until I receive it?
For in-person fittings suits are made in our workshops and completed within 4-6 weeks. Any follow-up fittings and alterations are completed by our in-house alterations experts.
I’ve ordered my first suit via your online measuring process, how long until I receive it?
For online orders first a master tailor meticulously validates your online measurements, then a carefully constructed prototype will be sent to you for approval and fit verification within 4-5 weeks. We are the only custom clothier that offers this option for online customers —completely taking the risk out of you taking the measurement yourself. Once we receive your feedback on the “fitting suit,” production of your custom suit will begin, and you will receive it in approximately 4 weeks. Subsequent suit orders take only approximately 4-5 weeks.

What happens if my shirt doesn’t fit properly?
We’re as particular as you are about shirt fit and we gladly offer our professional opinion in case you are unsure about how your new shirt is fitting. If you were measured in person or are near one of our locations, please do come back to see us where we can assess the fit of your garments. If you are remote, simply e-mail us 2-4 standard front and back pictures of yourself wearing the item (taken by another individual), with a brief explanation of your concerns to: info@mytailor.com.

What happens if my suit/jacket/trousers don’t fit properly?
We won’t tire until your garments fit you the best they ever have. If you are close to one of our retail locations or traveling tailors please come by to see one of our master tailors for your follow-up fittings.

If you have ordered online, typically all adjustments are noted when you receive your “fitting suit”—so almost never will you need a follow-up fitting. But in the off-chance you need another adjustment simply e-mail us 2-4 standard front and back pictures of yourself wearing the
item (taken by another individual), with a brief explanation of your concerns to: info@mytailor.com.

Any follow-up fittings and alterations are completed by our in-house alterations experts. The jacket is one of the hardest garments to alter correctly given the amount of handwork in it, so we have chosen in-house alteration experts have been working on jackets for over 30-years.
